Our Debt Free Journey Update From 2020

We first started to get intentional with paying off our debt in April of 2020. Now as we approach the end of February 2021, I want to look back over the past 11 months to recognize the accomplishments. We may not be finished but we have made great progress.

When we started we were living paycheck to paycheck. Barely making it to the next time we got paid. We were even using credit cards to supplement our income.

Today we no longer need to use credit cards. Today we actually have some savings set away for small emergencies. We no longer have to worry about a late paycheck. We are doing much better than just getting by with our finances. We are actually starting to thrive!

We aren’t at our goal yet of being completely debt free but we have paid off a lot of debt over the last 11 months. We have paid off around $31,000 of debt. We no longer have credit card debt or car loans. We have way less student loans too!

Given that we started with an income of only $55,000 that’s pretty impressive. It means we got intentional to make extra money. It means we cut down our budget to only the essentials for a long time. It means we made and stuck to a budget every month.

We may still have $12,000 in student loan debt but we aren’t where we were 11 months ago. For that I am grateful to God that by His mercy and provision we have been able to accomplish these great feats.
